WATCH: Rural shortages lead to worsened ambulance deserts and delayed medical care (PBS News)

One of the many concerns that drives the push for essential status is equitable care for all who need an ambulance, regardless of their economic status, race, gender, or address.

This video from PBS News encapsulates these concerns: shortages of EMS services in rural areas of the country have caused "ambulance deserts" where people in need have had to wait 25 minutes or more to receive emergency medical care.

These precious minutes can be the difference between life and death, and it's unacceptable that people have been denied their right to this pre-hospital care simply because of where they live.
